Import From Microsoft Access

This procedure walks you through the process of importing data into Office Accounting from a Microsoft Access database.

To import an Access database file:

  1. On the File menu, select Utilities.
  2. Select Import.
  3. In the Import Data dialog, select Microsoft Access Database (.mdb).
  4. Click OK.
  5. In the Select Source File dialog, click Browse.
  6. Navigate to the database (.mdb) file you want to import.
  7. Click Open.
  8. In the Options pane of the Import Data window, select either the option to import duplicate records or not to import duplicate records, and Next. If you choose to import duplicate records, they will be imported with a slightly different name.
  9. In the Step 1 pane, select the Access table you want to use.
  10. In the Step 2 pane, select the type of data that matches the table selected in Step 1.
  11. In the Step 3 pane, click Map Fields.
  12. The Map Fields pane displays the column headers of the selected Access table. Click and drag a column in the From pane and drop it on the corresponding column in the To pane. Asterisks (*) indicate a required field. If your Access table does not contain these columns, cancel the wizard, add the columns to the table, and then start the import again.
