Lanre Onipede: Making the Case for Office Accounting 2007 and Medical Office Productivity

By Craig Watkins

There’s no shortage of work for Lanre Onipede, Managing Partner of RLO Management Consultants, Inc. For 15 years, Onipede has been helping healthcare organizations plan, configure and implement their ERP (enterprise resource planning) applications. Thanks to federal mandates for electronic medical record storage and sharing, and data migration tools that don’t perform as advertised, Onipede keeps very busy traversing the country to get vital data migration projects off the ground and running smoothly.

Amidst this data migration boom, where does Onipede see the greatest growth potential for his business? Why, in small and medium sized businesses and Microsoft Office Accounting Professional implementation of course. In standalone environments, OA’s feature set and familiarity make it an attractive option. In addition, Onipede has found a connection between ERP and small medical offices, with Office Accounting as the lynchpin of productivity and profitability.

Customers want tools that work the way they work

Helping his clients choose the right accounting system is very important to Onipede. He finds that most of his clients put four needs at the top of their list: ease of use, real-time financial management metrics, dependable reporting and integration with the tools they use every day.  It’s no wonder that more and more of them are making the switch to Office Accounting Professional.

“Since Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word are the office tools my clients use the most, I can help them make a quick decision given all the bells and whistles in Office Accounting Professional,” he says. Several clients see payroll subscription and online banking connectivity as great benefits. As for integration, his clients particularly like Business Contact Manager for vendor list management and communication. The fact that Onipede can get them up to speed quickly makes him and his clients look good.

ERP and OA make powerful bedfellows

While Onipede sees his OA implementation business growing among small professional services companies with a revenue base of at least $250K, he’s particularly excited about the value OA can bring to small medical offices.

With the push for universal access to electronic health records, small medical offices have become the beneficiaries of data shared through the ERP applications of their large healthcare organization partners. “Even though they are now able to plug into these big organizations, they still need a robust accounting system for themselves,” says Onipede. “OA is a great tool for them once they download the data they need into Excel.”  His small medical office clients now have the potential to leverage what is normally only available to medium and large companies, from an ERP perspective, he adds.  With years of ERP expertise under his belt, and a growing OA client base, Onipede believes he’s in a great position for a business boom of his own.
